A troop transport/hospital ship with capability to use a deep sea rescue sub?It's too large for a simple tender in my opinion.
if PLAN's submarine is spend more time in the "blue" water, they will need an ocean going support ship.
Why? Nuclear subs don't need that, and diesel subs demonstrated ranges of twenty thousand nm and months of endurance in WW2.PLA Subs would be irrelevant in African affairs while all Asian waters are easily in SSK range.
