Exhibition of Weapons and Equipment of PLA Air Force opened to public

  As one of the celebrations to mark the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Air Force of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), the Exhibition of Weapons and Equipment of PLA Air Force was opened to the public at the China Aviation Museum in Beijing on November 15, 2009, displaying the main battle equipment of the PLA Air Force for the first time to the public.

  The exhibition is mainly focused on the weapons and equipment displayed in the National Day military parade in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, covering almost of the main battle equipment of the main arms of the PLA Air Force, including aviation force, anti-aircraft artillery force, airborne force and radar force, etc.

  The exhibition includes the following equipment: Kongjing-2000 early-warning aircraft (EWA), Kongjing-200 early-warning aircraft (EWA), HY-6 tanker, H-6H bomber, J-11 fighter, J-10A fighter, two-seat J-10 fighter, JH-7A fighter/bomber, J-8D fighter, J-8F fighter, J-7GB fighter, K-8 jet trainer, Z -8K helicopter, airborne combat vehicle and launching vehicle of HQ-9 ground-to-air missiles, etc.

   According to He Weirong, deputy commander of the Air Force of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA), these main battle equipment of the PLA Air Force were all developed by China herself, symbolizing that the PLA Air Force has formed an aerial combat system based on the third-generation main battle equipment and realized leapfrog development in its combat effectiveness.

  Mr. Liu, a Beijing citizen who visited the exhibition together with his child, said to the reporter that it was a rare chance for us to visit these weapons and equipment and also a valuable opportunity to educate the children to have the sense of national defense and learn the military scientific knowledge.
