Are you sure that this is a type 99? It looks like a type 96 to me.
The turret clearly suggests a Type99 /VT-1a Mod
VT-1A is an improvement on MBT-2000 using Type 96 technology. This Turret in the picture is clearly evolved from the latest Type 96, not Type 99. Notice the narrow front section of the turret.
