It's not a Sri Lankan Army mod, but a kitbash of captured (ex-SLA) vehicles made by the LTTE guerillas. The resulting vehicle was captured by the SLA during the final days of the conflict. By the way, the SLA described it as a "BMT Armored Tank"
No....Did they really mounted a Panzer III Ausf F turret on top of a Type63 APC?!!
Joking aside (The turret is from a FV601 Saladin) it is interesting how they managed to convert an old APC into a light tank by lowering the chassis, the rewire work to bring power to the turret must be extensive. Not sure it is worth the effort; the extra weight can really slow down the already slow APC and there is almost no armor for protection. But, when you are at war, you gotta do what you gotta do, plus, it looks cool. Pimp my ride, South East AZN sytle.

thanks for the correction.
The LTTE must be pretty sophisticated to jerry-rig a tank like that. Did they download the manuals off google :) ?
