H-6K medium bomber taking off in the early morning

The swap out of the 1950-era turbojets with the 1970-era turbofans had increased the operational range by more than 50%. The plexiglass nose had been changed out for a modern radar. All the gun turrets are now all gone and replaced by electronic suite and digital cockpit.

Still useful as a cruise missile truck after all these years, but maybe not cost effective. The cost of building the new stealth bomber will dominate the PLAAF budget for years to come. Those things are incredibly expensive, so I bet H-6 variants will serve for many more years.
