CCTV report of the day: The PLAN conducts transverse replenishment with Type 071 amphibious transport dock 999 Jinggang Shan at "far seas"

The "transverse" replenishment method is considered more difficult than refueling from behind the ship because it requires the supply ship to maintain precisely the same course and speed for an extended period of time.  The advantage of this approach is that 3 ships can be refueled simultaneously.
