The new Chinese FN MAG/M240 7.62mm GPMG knock off

It looks like Norinco is really trying hard to get the Iraqi and Afghan new army/police's re-equip order. Only few things are different than the real MAG: a simpler 3-stage gas regulator, the aluminum butt stock with buildin recoil buffer and the rear sight that has a quick-detachable optics mount. They didn't even bothered to actually improve the MAG design like change to a side ejection or replace it's titling block locking bolt or reduce its ungainly weight. In fact the Norinco copy weights even heavier than the real MAG.

The Chinese M4 Carbine Copy

Well, it did take long for the Chinese started to copy the American M4 design. I wonder if the Chinese going to pay royalty to Colt.......Of course NOT! When was the last time the Chinese arms industry give a crap about weapon design IP? If the price is right, maybe the US government will start buying the Chinese M4 copy for their Afghan, Iraqi and Pakistani allies. The last one will make the Indian very jealous for sure.

PLA on course to cut 200,000 personnel

PLA on course to cut 200,000 personnel

www.chinaview.cn 2005-07-15 08:21:17

BEIJING,July 15 -- People's Liberation Army (PLA) is on course to cut 200,000 military personnel by the end of the year, the PLA Daily, mouthpiece of China's armed forces, reported yesterday.

The military is currently carrying out extensive restructuring reform, adding new battle units and cutting outdated ones in an effort to create combat effectiveness and intensify the force's combat command capability, the report said.

The total number of officers at headquarters and functional branches at different command levels will be cut to a new low, and some grassroots posts previously held by officers will be transferred to soldiers or civil servants.

"The readjustment and reform programme is now proceeding smoothly," Zang Guoqing, head of the army affairs department with the PLA's Headquarters of the General Staff, was quoted by the newspaper as saying.

China announced in September 2003 that it would reduce its military from 2.5 million to about 2.3 million in two years.

Zang urged all military units to strictly abide by the restructuring plan as it was an important decision made by the Central Military Commission to optimize its military structure.

"Only when the new organizational system is well-implemented can we complete the task of reducing 200,000 military staff by the end of this year," Zang said.

He said that the headquarters had inspected several military commands and found some problems.

For example, in some cases the number of staff and vehicles were much more than allowed under the new system, and Zang urged them to make changes as required.

According to a white paper on China's national defence, released by the Information Office of the State Council late last year, the cuts will mainly affect officers and those from non-combatant institutions.

Since New China was established in 1949, the PLA has reduced in size nine times, with the total number of troops cut from 6.27 million in 1951 to 2.5 million in 2003.

According to the white paper, the PLA will optimize its structure by streamlining land forces and strengthening the development of navy, air and missile forces.

The new "Chinese Foreign Legionnaires"

This is the funniest thing I had seen lately. It's obviously that the two long-noises were having fun with their new purchase of pre-1980s PLA uniforms replicas from a souvenir shop. --- Timothy Yan

The Type 63A firing its 105mm main gun over Water

I never expected the Type 63A amphibious light tank is actually capable of fire its 105mm main gun while cruising in the water. It must has a very high efficiency recoil buffer. --- Timothy Yan

More Silly Chinese Military Head Gears

At least these are NOT stupid A&E stage props but they do look ghetto nevertheless. --- Timothy Yan

"We're the PLA. You will be assimilated. Your advance capitalist running-dog technologies will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile."

"I got this cheap webcam and the oversize plastic Wi-Fi headphone for $5 each at Fry's. I think those make me look cool on my helmet. Maybe they will help me get a date with the cute A&E girl below."

The windowed high-visibility version in white color for the Chinese police service. The windowless high-protection version in camouflage color for the Chinese People's Armed Police (PAP). New Chinese "Helmet Mounted Optics"

It's time for a little humors. Yes the picture is real and no that's not an actual standard PLA issue helmet. That's just a stupid stage prop by the Art and Entertainment (A&E) people in the PLA. Just think of them as the art, music, dance and liberal arts majors instead of hanging out in the liberal study departments in typical US universities, in China, they join the PLA A&E troops. They're no real soldiers for sure! The A&E troops is more like crossing between the USO show performers and propaganda cheerleaders. Nothing can beats some moral boosting show with a little political brainwashing! --- Timothy Yan

Typical A&E gals like her in the picture probably doesn't know which end the bullet comes out from a rifle.

Chinese UN Peace Keepers in Haiti

It's interesting that they have better equipment than just about any PLA units and they're only policemen. The APC they're sitting on is the NewStar 2002 painted in UN white. The US should buy that for Iraq since the whole vehicle is costing less than just the addon armor kit for Hummer and it's better protected in all sides. --- Timothy Yan

New Magnified Red Dot Sight for the QBZ95 Rifle Family

The Aimpoint looking design actually had been around for the last few years. The new sight seems to be based on the existing 2.5 magnification submachine gun red dot sight. It was designed to allows its shooter to employs the "Bindon Aiming Concept" or better know as the "both-eyes-opening" aiming method for quick target acquisition. Glyn Bindon was the inventor of this aiming method and also the founder of American weapon optic maker Trijicon Inc. Most of the current Aimpoint and Trijicon red dot optic sights use this quick aiming method. --- Timothy Yan

Chinese made weapons and body armors in use by the new Iraqi police and troops

The new Type 56-2 assault rifles and body armors must be from the recent 40 million USD orders placed by new Iraqi government for its police and troops. Noticing the brand new Type 56-2 rifles with its short folding stocks and cheap orange colored plastic parts. Can't complaint too much when they only paid around $100 each and got them delivered almost rightaway. --- Timothy Yan
