Southern Theater Command's Frontier Defense Brigade is also getting a firepower boost.

It seems that the South Theater's Frontier Defense units are also getting a firepower boost in parallel with other Frontier Defense units.  While those so-called "boost" is not state-of-the-art by any stretch of the imagination nor geared for anything but delay actions, it is still a far cry from just few months ago.

PLA Unit Of The Day: Xinjiang Altaya (阿勒泰) Frontier Defense Regiment

Why blog about an insignificant unit, you ask?  Fair question - how about that they are now better equipped to perform their intended role as light infantry rather than glorified border guard. A policing role which they are ill-suited for.

No worries, they have their brethren PAP to pick up the border patrol slack.   Of course, there's always the option of building a wall, a beautiful wall.

Libyan National Army's Type GP-1 precision guided 155 mm artillery projectile.

Two days ago (March 30th), the southfront.org reported that the Mitiga Airport was shelled by GP1-A precision guided 155 mm rounds.   It was part of a larger assault by the Libyan National Army (LNA) against Turkish targets in that area.

LNA spokesperson Ahmad al-Mismari said that Turkish military targets, including radars and air defences, located at Mitiga Airport had been struck by the LNA for several days.
Turkey has been sending troops to war-torn Libya to support the U.N.-recognised Government of National Accord (GNA) in its conflict with the eastern-based LNA, led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, which is backed by several countries, including the UAE, Egypt and France.
All flights from Mitiga were suspended last week after the LNA hit Turkish air defence systems at a military base at the airport.  (source here)
Who supplied the LNA with Chinese GP1-A you ask,  UAE is the most likely source

Libya's GNA says US missiles found at captured Haftar base

Libyan media airs footage appearing to show markings that indicate the weapons were originally sold to the UAE in 2008.

An Operational ZTQ15 105mm Light Tank Unit Identified.

Right from the get-go we knew the ZTQ15 105mm Light Tank is purposely-built to operate under the mountainous and wet jungle regions of China.   Now with the 54th Heavy Armor Combined-Arms Brigade, Tibet Military Area Command, displaying their new unit-code of "LZ", we have one of the operational units of ZTQ15 identified.

Northern Theater Command Navy Conducts a "May Day" Drill.

Without the Liaoning (CV16), the Northern Theater Command Navy can still put together a nice navy task force for their "May Day Parade".  Good to see Type 055 DDG101 Nanchang participating as well.

The Beatles song of the week: A Hard Days Night

It's been a hard day's night
And I've been working like a dog
It's been a hard day's night
I should be sleeping like a log
But when I get home to you
I find the things that you do
Will make me feel alright
