The TV pictures show the scenes of the Navy JT-9 advanced fighter trainer in flight test. It is the first time to expose this type of fighter trainer used for training the pilots of ship-based fighters of the Navy of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army. This type of fighter trainer will be mainly used by the pilots of the ship-based fighters to conduct simulated take-off and landing training on carrier deck.

Ah so its not the JL-9H but the JT-9. Now the question remains, what does the 'T' stand for exactly?
Generally speaking T stands for Special -- just a guess at this point.
I prefer H (hai as in Ocean)
